Psalm 119 shows that true joy is found not in mere head knowledge or external rule-following, but in a transformed heart that genuinely loves Christ and seeks to actively walk in His ways.
In this message, we see the command to “Hold Fast” to our confidence in Christ until the end. We learn from the example of the Jews who were prevented from entering God’s Rest (the promised land) through unbelief. We also see a challenging exhortation for the entire church to encourage one another daily so that none are hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
God’s rest is available to us. It is resting from our works to rely upon Christ’s work alone. But we must fear coming short of it, and be diligent to enter it! If we don’t enter that rest, God’s Word will be a weapon of judgment against us in the last day.
It is amazing to consider that the Creator of the universe suffers with us as our Great High Priest! Not only that, but He welcomes us to the throne of grace where He grants mercy and grace to help us our time of need.
